Souk

We got up reasonably early and had breakfast about 0830. We saw Susanna and Oscar and wished them safe journey. We didn’t see Richard. After breakfast we set off for the medina. We walked up to the main square which was quiet quiet compared to how it was later. We walked around the Souks. All stalls selling leather sandals, metal lamp shades, Argan oil, scarves, fabrics and a few with plastic tat but not many.

We had coffee back outside the souks and then headed back in to go to the museum. As we crossed the square Rob tried to take a photo of a snake on the ground, and was seen so asked for some money. The con merchant then proceeded to extract as much money as he could from us before I lost the plot and told him what I thought. We walked away both feeling very pissed off.

We then got lost in the souk ending up by the hospital and constantly being directed to a leather market only held on a Monday. They kept telling us to keep to the right as the moped wizzed past. We were constantly invited to look at the goods from each and every stall owner.

We gave up and then stumbled on the museum. Went into the museum for some quiet relief. It could have done with some explanation. Cost 50 dirhams each.

We went onto the terrace restaurant next to the museum and had a good lunch. Rob had vegetarian couscous and I had chicken skewers and chips. We paid and rob didn’t leave a tip so the man called back and asked for it!

We headed out of the souks for the Bahia palace again getting a bit lost. Found it, paid 70dirham each to go in. Quite a nice place but no furniture so you couldn’t really get an idea of what the rooms would be used for.

Headed back to the hotel for a bath before heading out to a nearby fish restaurant. The only had two menus so got the menu off you quick without taking the order. Rob had fish and chips I had a special friteur. Prawns, sole, fish and a fried chilli. Everything deep fried. If you wanted your fish grilled it was three times the price.

Back to hotel and packed case ready for morning.
